Nachi Chockalingam is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine. He is a Chartered Engineer, a Chartered Scientist and a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He chairs the University Professoriate and is the Director of Centre for Biomechanics and Rehabilitation Technologies.  He is also an Affiliate Professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Malta, a Visiting Professor at the Department of Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy, Sri Ramachandra University, Chennai and a Guest Professor at Guangzhou Sport University. He has published over 580 research outputs which includes over 190 full research manuscripts. He is the founding Associate Editor for the journals Scoliosis and Spinal disorders and Footwear Science. He is also on the editorial board for other journals such as The Foot and Prosthetics and Orthotics International.  In addition, he reviews for numerous journals and grant awarding bodies worldwide.  His research has received funding from various international bodies including the European Commission and British Council. His current projects focus on issues relating to the diabetic foot and have received international attention.  He also leads projects focusing on Assistive Technology with an emphasis on Orthotics Service Provision.
